Paul Charles LaSalle Barbour, 80, passed away on April16, 2024, at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born on October 26, 1943, in Buchanan, MI.
On March 22, 1969, in Niles, he married Pamela Renaud; she survives along with two children, Paul (Tammy) Barbour and Steven (Michelle) Barbour; and four grandchildren, Courtney (Mason) Hall, Justin (Dior) Barbour, Lauren (Remington) Geans, and Jacob (Bethany) Barbour. Also surviving are ten great-grandchildren, and four siblings, Hervey, Maisie, Rick, and Martha. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ellen Barbour, and his father, Raymond (Virginia) Barbour.
Paul graduated from Buchanan High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1966 as an air traffic controller and remained very patriotic throughout his life. Paul worked at Holiday Rambler Corp. for 30 years, where he received the Communication Excellence Award. He was also employed part-time at Sunrise Sprinklers. In his younger years, he played the trumpet, basketball, and remained an avid basketball enthusiast.
Paul was a positive man who showed integrity in his everyday life and had a wonderful sense of humor. There is much more that can be said about Paul, but it was best stated by one of his grandchildren, “Those that knew him were always blessed by his presence. He was one of a kind. One of the strongest men I will ever know. We will all strive to be better because of the great standard he set for our family. He truly had a heart of gold.”
Per his wishes, cremation will take place.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held from 4:00-8:00pm on Friday, May 24, 2024 at First Pentecostal Church, 27262 U.S. 12, Edwardsburg, MI.
Memorial contributions may be given to First Pentecostal Church, 27262 U.S. Highway, Edwardsburg, MI 49112, or charity of the donor’s choice.
